Edmodo is a web-based learning management system specifically designed to allow instructors to connect and collaborate easily with both learners and one other. Edmodo was born in 2008 in the public school system of Chicago, with the stated intention to “bridge the gap between how students live their lives and how they learn in school.”  Today, it is the world’s largest K-12 social learning network, with almost 68 million members spread over the globe.

The social network aspect of Edmodo is similar to popular services like Twitter or Facebook, in that it’s free to join and use, and the interaction between users is the driving force behind content and engagement.
